Meredith Walsh is really into her art. The Canberra-based artist is four months into a year's residency with the CSIRO's virtual reality group, where she is exploring the potential of virtual environments. She is working with the group's scientists on ways of incorporating senses beyond the visual in their VR generator, known as the Wedge. In these images, she is in an ocean environment (the image above shows the environment from her point of view). She is investigating the use of sound waves in a VR glove to simulate the sense of touch. Walsh says she hopes her residency will lead to the creation of a work of virtual art, or new discoveries. -- Jenny Sinclair
